Job summary

Ōnin Staffing is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Assembler in Rock Hill, SC. You will perform hands-on assembly of structural components and propulsion sub-assemblies using hand and power tools, reading blueprints and BOMs, with a focus on quality and precision.

This full-time, first-shift role offers paid weekly, overtime, health benefits after 30 days, and a contract-to-hire pathway from day one with a people-first culture.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years in mechanical assembly or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on mechanical assembly of components using hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and SOPs.
• Conduct in-process quality checks for fit, form and function.
• Assist in integrating mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
• Maintain a clean, organized 5S workstation and calibrate tools.
• Collaborate with engineers to streamline workflows and improve reliability.

What You’ll Do as an Industrial Mechanical Assembler:

• Precision Assembly: Perform hands-on mechanical assembly of structural components, chassis, airframe elements, and uncrewed hardware systems using hand and power tools.
• Blueprint & Documentation Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, blueprints, bills of materials (BOM), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Quality & Inspection: Conduct rigorous in-process quality checks (fit, form, and function) to identify defects, misalignments, or variances, reporting issues immediately to production leads.
• Component Integration: Assist in integrating mechanical, electro-mechanical, and propulsion sub-assemblies cleanly and efficiently.
• Tool & Workspace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, 5S-compliant workstation and ensure all tools, jigs, and fixtures are properly calibrated and safely stored.
• Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and production teams to streamline assembly workflows, reduce cycle times, and improve product reliability.

Skills and Experience

What You’ll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:

• 1–3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, precision manufacturing, aerospace production, or a related technical field.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, technical schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using precision hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, and measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
• High commitment to quality control and meticulous craftsmanship—especially critical when building hardware destined for high-stress environments.
• Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven team environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs safely.
