Job summary

Vincere in Houston, TX is seeking a Mechanical Assembler / Technician / Fitter to join its production team. You will assemble, modify and rebuild complex industrial HVAC equipment, including compressors, piping, wiring and skid-mounted components.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, working from specs, installing electrical cables, piping, motors and compressors, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment. Training will be provided; forklift ops may be involved.

Qualifications

• HVAC experience with electrical conduit and refrigerant piping preferred.
• Experience in custom manufacturing, industrial equipment repair, or facilities maintenance.
• Experience reading engineering drawings or mechanical schematics.
• Ability to use hand and power tools (screwdrivers, wire cutters, crimpers, drills).
• Licensed to operate a forklift.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, move and modify HVAC and mechanical equipment according to specs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and product schematics.
• Training with Subject Matter Expert, Lead Mechanic or Supervisor.
• Route and install electrical cables, conduits and circuits.
• Route and install refrigerant piping and perform soldering as required.
• Route and install instrument-air piping.
• Install and modify chilled-water piping where required.
• Mount and align electric motors and bearings.
• Mount compressors onto HVAC units.
• Install labels and grounding wires; mount major components on skids.
• Maintain safe, organized, and clean working environment.
• Operate forklifts to transport equipment.
• Perform additional production duties as required.

Job description

Mechanical Assembler / Mechanical Technician / Mechanical Fitter required to join a leading manufacturer of custom industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems based in Houston, Texas.

The successful Mechanical Assembler / Mechanical Technician / Mechanical Fitter will work within a production environment assembling, modifying and rebuilding complex industrial HVAC equipment, including compressors, refrigeration piping, electrical cabling, motors and skid-mounted HVAC components.

This role would suit someone with experience in HVAC, mechanical assembly, custom manufacturing, industrial equipment repair or facilities maintenance who is comfortable working from engineering drawings and carrying out hands-on mechanical, piping and electrical installation work.

Package

• $18 to $23 per hour
• Temporary contract with the potential to become a permanent direct-hire role.

Mechanical Assembler / Mechanical Technician / Mechanical Fitter Role

• Install, move and modify HVAC and mechanical equipment according to job specifications, procedures and engineering standards.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and product schematics.
• Complete structured training alongside a Subject Matter Expert, Lead Mechanic or Supervisor.
• Route and install electrical cables, conduits and associated circuits.
• Route and install refrigerant piping and complete soldering as required.
• Route and install instrument-air piping.
• Install and modify chilled-water piping where required.
• Mount and align electric motors and bearings.
• Mount compressors onto HVAC units.
• Install labels and electrical grounding wires.
• Mount major HVAC components onto equipment skids.
• Complete assigned work within required production hours while minimizing rework.
• Work effectively with moderate supervision as part of the production team.
• Participate actively in company safety procedures and programs.
• Maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment.
• Operate forklifts to transport equipment and materials.
• Perform additional production and assembly duties when required.

Mechanical Assembler / Mechanical Technician / Mechanical Fitter Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of HVAC experience involving electrical conduit and circuit installation, refrigerant piping and soldering, instrument-air piping or chilled-water piping preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience within custom manufacturing, industrial equipment repair or facilities maintenance.
• Experience working from engineering drawings or mechanical schematics.
• Confident using hand and power tools including screwdrivers, wire cutters, crimpers and drills.
• Able to operate a forklift.
• Must provide a basic mechanic tool set.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.
• Able to work productively within a team and plan work logically.
• Valid driver's licence.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Able to stand for extended periods and perform physical duties including climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling.
• Able to lift up to 20 lb routinely and up to 50 lb occasionally.
