Mechanical Applications Engineer

The Mechanical Applications Engineer collaborates with the bid team to design, price, and propose solutions to customers, focusing on concepting and creating manifests for bid integration and products.

Your role in our team
  1. Develop concepts and manifests based on customer requirements outlined in RFPs within specified timeframes.
  2. Support bid development from RFP receipt to proposal submission, including creating RFQ packages and technical SOWs.
  3. Demonstrate expertise in material handling system design, equipment technology, and operational processes.
  4. Lead design efforts based on client requests, utilizing data to create solutions that address client issues and improve processing efficiency.
  5. Showcase Körber’s capabilities during sales phases to build trust and demonstrate industry-leading solutions.
  6. Support multiple projects with budgets ranging from $100K to $250M.
  7. Participate in external and internal meetings as needed.
  8. Create and explain material flow calculators and develop the Basis of Design (BOD).
  9. Remain knowledgeable about market options for material handling equipment to recommend the best solutions.
  10. Work with clients to develop weighted Selection Criteria Matrices for optimal solution selection.
  11. Create Process and Material Flow Diagrams.
  12. Ensure mechanical designs align with electrical control capabilities.
  13. Develop the Basis of Design and Description of Operation documents.
  14. Provide mechanical support for system testing and simulation.
  15. Coordinate with the execution team post-award to ensure successful project handoff.
Your profile
  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, with at least three years of related experience.
  2. Familiarity with core customer specifications.
  3. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Navisworks for automation layout and design.
  4. Knowledge of 3D CAD modeling and drafting.
  5. Basic understanding of automation controls and cross-discipline responsibilities.
  6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  7. Ability to document technical decisions clearly with illustrations and explanations.
  8. Excellent analytical skills and a commitment to high-quality output.
  9. Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time.
