Covenant Health Canada seeks an experienced Mechanic/Welder (Industrial Mechanic) to oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems in a healthcare setting. Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FM&E) Supervisor, the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) performs skilled work following Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification standards. This role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing mechanical systems and equipment across the facility, focusing on reliability, safety, and performance. Key duties include preventive maintenance, equipment installation, troubleshooting, and detailed recordkeeping while working collaboratively with FM&E staff and other departments.Please note: Classifications Under Review.
The Mechanic/Welder is responsible for carrying out demand and preventative maintenance as well as installation and modifications to mechanical equipment and systems. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.
As both a Millwright and a Welder, must be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson or hold a valid recognized credential.
Additional Required Qualifications:Proficient in the use of computers and desktop applications, e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Office (Includes Outlook, Word, and Excel).Heavy lifting and bending are required.Must be able to work around sick and vulnerable people.Must have excellent interpersonal skills.Must be detail-oriented and organized.Must be able to use required tools and equipment related to maintenance, repair, and testing.Must be able to maintain composure and make decisions in emergencies.Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, and specifications and locate operational data from operating and maintenance manuals.
Preferred Qualifications:Two years Journeyman experience preferred.Two years in a hospital maintenance setting preferred.Able to communicate clearly in English, verbally, and in writing.
