**Summary**
Prepares chassis to receive bodies, cuts, welds, and modifies chassis as required, installs wiring and electrical components, hydraulic system components; installs lift axles; installs plow hoists, body hoists and hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic components and controls, and similar tasks. Performs similar tasks on trailers.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Check driveshaft clearance.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Ensure proper routing of air lines.
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Competent in basic shop math.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
- Modify and prepare chassis as required by work order.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Install wiring and electrical components.
- Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Install pneumatic controls and components.
- Adjust, maintain and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
- Install hydraulic controls and components.
- Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical system.
- Install plow lifts and hoists.
- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Install lift axles.
- Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
- Install body hoists and hoist cylinder(s).
- Perform duties in a safe manner; wear always required PPE.
- Observe and comply with all provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.

**Supervisory Responsibilities:**

- Demonstrated ability to weld carbon steel or aluminum in position 1G, limited thickness using the GMAW or FCAW process.
- Attain certification under AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code within 90 days of hire.
