Job summary

Brunswick County is seeking a Mechanic Technician to perform diagnostic and mechanical repairs on a wide range of rolling stock including gas and diesel vehicles and heavy equipment. The role requires 5–7 years of experience, NC Vehicle Safety Inspection license within a year, and Class A CDL within a year.

You will mentor other mechanics, handle preventative maintenance, and assist with shop operations while keeping precise records.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from vocational/technical school with course work in automotive mechanics and 5–7 years of experience as an automotive or heavy equipment mechanic.
  • North Carolina Vehicle Safety Inspection License required within one year of employment.
  • Class A CDL required within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled diagnostic and mechanical repairs on over 1700 pieces of rolling stock including gas/diesel vehicles, heavy trucks, equipment, and small engines.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, tire service, NC inspections, AC and electrical repairs, hydraulic, gearbox, and transmission work, and shop maintenance.
  • Mentor other mechanics and maintain daily shop operations in the Lead Mechanic's absence; maintain accurate records with Proficient computer use.
