Votorantim Cimentos North America (VCNA) seeks an experienced heavy equipment mechanic in the Detroit, Michigan area. The role involves diagnosing defects, disassembling and repairing trucks and equipment, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a CDL-A or CDL-B with air brakes and 5–7 years of hands-on experience with heavy equipment and mixer trucks, including engines, hydraulics, brakes, driveline, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operating and inspecting equipment to diagnose defects
• Visually inspecting and listening to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
• Dismantling and reassembling trucks, machines, and equipment to gain access to problem area
• Examining parts for damage or excessive wear and determining re-usability
• Repairing, replacing, cleaning, and lubricating parts as necessary
• Repairing malfunctioning hydraulic components
• Diagnosing and correcting electrical problems
• Replacing malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g., transmissions, clutches, differentials, engines, etc.)
• Welding, cutting, and fabricating of all equipment and components
• Changing oil, checking and changing batteries, and performing complete lubrication tasks on equipment and machinery
• Changing tires and repairing tires and tubes
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
• Performing preventive maintenance
• Making recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources
• Requisitioning parts and equipment
• Record keeping and reporting
• Providing general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility
