Qualifications

• Certifications in Welding, Electrical, and Mechanics preferred; PLC training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular repair, service and maintenance activities on manufacturing machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance and requisition parts and equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with installation of new equipment.
• Maintain accurate departmental records.

Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing and maintaining the production machines to avoid downtime and any interference with the facilities operations. Responsibilities will include but not limited to repairing, diagnosing and testing industrial equipment including but not limited to mechanical and hydraulic power presses, conveyors, shears slitters, ovens and PLC controlled tools. Fabrication and welding of plant infrastructure, repairs to damaged equipment and facilities as well as assist in plant improvement projects.

Position Responsibilities may include:

• Conduct regular repair, service and maintenance activities on the manufacturing machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties and requisitions new parts and equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with all aspects of new equipment installation.
• Evaluate, maintain and modify all equipment to ensure production efficiency.
• Maintain accurate and complete departmental records.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, construction drawings, machine manuals.
• Ensure equipment adheres to all applicable safety requirements. Ensuring the timely production and packaging of goods in a facility.
• Inspect the machinery to ascertain the proper functionality of the same.
• Appropriately handle repair and testing tools and other equipment.
• Comply with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while carrying out all work processes.
• Report damages and other malfunctions to the supervising authority.
• Obtain feedback from the production department regarding the functioning of the machinery.
• Coordinate maintenance processes with the production department in a way in which the production output and packaging is least affected.
• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Full and comprehensive working knowledge in the following areas: mechanical systems and repair procedures
• Working knowledge of mechanical drives, gears, hydraulic and pneumatic units, machine set-up, proper equipment alignment and proper bearing handling
• Ability to perform minor electrical repairs, fabricate and weld
• Knowledge of equipment found in metal fabrication and assembly factory
• Ability to read, comprehend and follow mechanical drawings, written procedures and verbal directions
• Proficient use of precision measuring tools, common PMI's (mic's, gauges, and etc.)
• Lock-out Tag-out; HAZMAT; Forklift Safety
• Electrostatic Discharge, Foreign Object Damage, and Quality System Awareness
• Attention to detail, accuracy and quality & safety measures
• Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
• Skilled in MS Office – Outlook, Excel
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Should have the potential of working in a team and effectively managing shift timings
• Must be able to read and understand written and verbal policy, instruction and directions in English
• Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.

Experience:

• 2 plus years of general mechanical experience related to manufacturing equipment

Education/Certification:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 4 year apprenticeship in Machine Repair of Industrial Millwright OR 6 years mechanical trades in industrial operations
• Certifications in Welding, Electrical, and Mechanics preferred, PLC Training is a plus
• Crane / Forklift repair and/or welding machine repair training a plus

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

• Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Manufacturing environment with forklift traffic.
• Requires ability to stand for long periods up to 8 to 10 hrs.
• Repetitive movement, good eye/hand coordination, operation of hand tools, and power tools.
• Job may require standing (up to 90%), walking (up to 10%), stooping or bending, reaching, twisting and turning.
• May be required to lift, carry, and/or move up to 40 lbs.
