Job summary
Crowley is seeking a skilled diesel/mechanical technician for our Alaska operation. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel and gasoline trucks and related heavy equipment to support our logistics and industrial services.
Role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, use of maintenance software, and adherence to safety standards. A High school diploma or GED is required, with CDL preferred and willingness to travel as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school preferred.
- Two years of diesel/heavy equipment experience required.
- Class A or B CDL preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred and will be required after introductory period.
- Willing to travel to other locations as needed, not longer than one week at a time.
Responsibilities
- Complete inspections, maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, pickups, forklifts, and other heavy-duty equipment.
- Keep track of important system components such as diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, steering and suspension systems.
- Ability to use maintenance software programs, laptops, and hand-held computers to aid in equipment diagnostics.
- Maintain proper service records on work completed in Vehicle Maintenance Systems (VMS) tracking parts and labor with clear, concise, and complete comments.
- Read and sign off on Daily Vehicle Inspection Records (DVIR) in Motive.
- Ability to document systems accurately and in a timely manner.

Operational
You will be responsible for mechanical diagnostics, repair and maintenance of diesel and gasoline industrial trucks, and any other industrial machinery.

- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience with diesel and gasoline engines, and heavy equipment repair.
- Must be able to accurately and in a timely manner document maintenance and labor activities in the proper maintenance and compliance systems
- Also, must be able to accurately record hours worked
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Class A or B CDL preferred.
- Forklift certification is preferred and will be required after completion of the introductory period.
- Willing to travel to other locations as needed, not longer than one week at a time.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent technical decisions in order to make timely and effective repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of and the ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment. Knowledge of office practices, procedures and etiquette. Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
