Lactalis USA is hiring a Packaging Mechanic for the Buffalo, New York area on 1st shift. The role focuses on operating and maintaining packaging equipment, learning utility systems, and supporting major overhauls.

This position emphasizes attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and trade school training in electrical or mechanical fields, with dairy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain machines with respect to bearings, assembly, disassembly, power transmission, rigging, and lubrication.
• Perform bench work using common hand tools.
• Collaborate with a senior mechanic on electrical systems and components.
• Learn rudimentary pipefitting of water, steam, and air lines with various materials.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and assist on major overhauls.
• Train on shop equipment and machinery.
• Assist in job layouts and material orders with higher classifications.
• Help diagnose and troubleshoot machine failures.
• Prepare daily with a complete hand tool set per supervisor.

1st shift.

Summary

Responsible for a variety of tasks that require knowledge and/or ability to learn packaging equipment and assist when needed on major utility systems. Ability to progress and desire to learn are of high importance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Maintains machines with respect to bearings, assembly, disassembly, power transmission, rigging, and lubrication.
• Effectively completes bench work utilizing common hand tools.
• Can work effectively with an upper-class mechanic to work on electrical systems and components.
• Learns to do rudimentary pipefitting of water, steam, and air lines with steel, plastic, and copper pipe materials.
• Performs routing preventative maintenance on designated equipment. Will assist upper class mechanic on major overhauls. Learn to identify potential issues and reports these to the necessary persons.
• Trains and learns most shop equipment and machinery.
• Works with upper classification mechanic on job layouts and ordering of materials necessary to complete job.
• Assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing most machine failures.
• Prepares for work daily with complete set of hand tools as mandated by the supervisor's list.
