Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician to keep production running smoothly in a demanding manufacturing environment. You will coordinate repairs with managers and peers while performing basic plumbing, electrical work, welding, and fabrication.

A high school diploma or GED, plus 3–5 years of related experience, is expected, with forklift certification and tool ownership required. Qualified candidates will work in a production/maintenance setting, perform equipment readouts,

Qualifications

• 2-3 years specialty or technical training.
• 3-5 years combined Mechanic/Electrician experience in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Forklift certification required; ability to operate Genie boom and scissor lift.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs on machinery and equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment and read diagrams and layouts.
• Weld and use cutting tools; fabricate mechanical assemblies as needed.
• Inspect for potential issues, plan repairs, and implement solutions.
• Maintain plant fire systems and participate in emergency response team.

Position Scope

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. As the Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician you are expected to maintain constant communication with department managers and employees to coordinate mechanical and electrical repairs. Major challenges include working independently on very involved and complex jobs. Works in a normal production/maintenance environment with exposure to temperature changes and some unpleasant working conditions.

Education: Major duties and responsibilities of the job can be satisfactorily performed with a high school education or GED.

Experience

• 2-3 years specialty or technical training.
• 3-5 years of combined Mechanic/Electrician experience required, 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Good communication and advanced math skills.
• Must be forklift certified.
• Ability to operate a genie boom, and scissor lift.
• Must possess a variety of personally owned industrial hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic plumbing on machinery and/or equipment.
• Perform basic electrical repair on machinery and/or equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Weld and use a cutting torch, plasma cutter, cut-off saw, and machine-shop equipment.
• Report conditions encountered that may affect the operation of the equipment.
• Fabricate any mechanical assembly, install and make operational.
• Assemble and disassemble equipment.
• Ready equipment for shipment to other locations.
• Read and interpret machine diagrams and plant layout drawings.
• Recognize potential mechanical problems, plan a solution for repair, and implement the plan.
• Maintain plant fire system.
• Serve on plant emergency response team.
