The Automation Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on facilities' automation systems, including:

• Dematic Automated Storage and Retrieval Machines
• Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyors
• Drag-Chain Conveyors
• Thru/In-Frame Drag-Chain Transfers
• Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors
• Schaefer Automated Case Pick and Automated Tray Storage Systems
• KUKA Robotics

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all subsystems and related components.
• Assist other maintenance team members with duties/repairs appropriate to experience and training.
• Provide guidance to Automation Mechanic I and II roles.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of industrial power systems, 3-phase 480V, and electrical safety practices.
• Proficiency in PLC and VFD programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Understanding of field bus and industrial networking.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
• Proper use of power tools and measuring devices; must provide basic hand tools.
• Ability to work at heights up to 110 ft and access assets using ladders (ladder weight limit 300 lbs).
• Advanced computer knowledge, including hardware, firmware, and operating systems.
• Welding experience (MIG, TIG, or Stick) is a plus.
• Knowledge of ABB/SEW drive technology and experience with machine shop equipment are advantages.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma required; 2-year degree or trade certification preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Physical Abilities

• Constant: seeing, hearing, sitting.
• Frequent: standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, gripping items under 20 lbs.
• Occasional: lifting items over 60 lbs.
