Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA in Calvert, AL is seeking skilled Mechanics to maintain and repair production machinery. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with installation and alignment of mechanical systems.

The role requires High School or equivalent, hands-on experience, and the ability to read blueprints. In-house Crane/Forklift training is provided, and safety equipment must be used at all times. Travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Able to perform preventive maintenance and interpret diagrams.
• Crane/Forklift certification training is provided in-house.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools and hand tools.
• Must use safety equipment (boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs).

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery by following manuals and maintenance procedures.
• Dismantle, move, assemble, and repair industrial equipment per plans.
• Utilize hoists, cranes, and rollers to position equipment.
• Locate and diagnose problems using precision instruments.
• Remove defective parts and perform rework or replacements.
• Minimize downtime with effective preventive maintenance.
• Set up machine tools to rework or fabricate parts.
• Travel to other locations may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

We are looking to hire Mechanics for our Calvert, AL. This location is responsible for Caster repair including bearing fitment, roll building, hydraulic troubleshooting, precision measurements of roll surfaces and bearing tolerances, manual alignment and laser alignment, removal and installation of gear boxes, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, welds, torch work, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
• Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools; moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors, using hand and power tools; constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
• Controls downtime through use of effective routine preventive maintenance techniques
• Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
• Travel to other locations may be required.
• Other work may be assigned at Management’s direction.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

• High School or Equivalent
• Experience needed; Experience and skills determines classification level and pay rate
• Crane/Forklift – In-house training provided to obtain certification
• Proper use of tools such as Micrometers, Bore Gages, Indicators, Hydraulic Tools and other hand tools
• Proper use of Safety Equipment such as Safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and ear plugs
