Overview

Summary

Responsible for repairing, maintaining, and installing oil well drilling machinery and equipment according to established guidelines and time frames.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Plans, prioritizes, and conducts risk assessments for daily workload.
  2. Maintains an appropriate level of critical spare and replacement parts inventory to support field operations.
  3. Communicates with parts clerk on getting any replacement parts ordered.
  4. Fills out all WO on Emaintenance completely and detailed.
  5. Ensures preventive maintenance is completed properly.
  6. Uses and understands reference sources to locate information regarding mechanical parts and specifications.
  7. Provides real-time capital equipment technical support for field personnel.
  8. Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs as required.
  9. Services, troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  10. Services, troubleshoots, and repairs all fluid systems and circulating pumps.
  11. Services, troubleshoots, and repairs air systems associated with the rig.
  12. Services, troubleshoots, and repairs all engines associated with the rig.
  13. Supervises and coaches junior mechanical technicians.
  14. Trains motorman to properly maintain and perform minor repairs as needed.
  15. Maintains clear communications with crew members.
  16. Participates in emergency drills and follows Lewis Energy operating procedures.
  17. Participates in all crew meetings.
  18. Assesses and documents major faults and alarms to prevent potential downtime.
  19. Reviews any failures with maintenance manager and performs an After Action Review Form.
  20. Serves as SME for all Lewis Energy drilling equipment.
  21. Performs any work orders in a timely manner.
  22. Performs Lock out/Tag out procedures when working on any equipment in the field with motormen.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum five years of experience and/or technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Oilfield or related industry experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages that apply basic concepts of required mathematics.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook). In addition, CAT ET and familiarity with Fluke Emaint is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver License.

Electronics Certificate Preferred.

Diesel Mechanic Certificate Preferred.

Hydraulics Certificate Preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of possible health, safety, and environmental impact and requirements associated with oil and gas operations.

Extensive knowledge of operations and maintenance of assorted engines.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operational manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to solve practical problems and ensure that standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.

Ability to read and analyze electrical and hydraulic schematics.

Ability to work in teams; Ability to work well under pressure.

Other Qualifications

Must be fit for duty at all times.
