Job Title: Packaging Mechanic - Level 3

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Primary Function

Responsible, as per training administered, for equipment repairs, changeovers, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and installation of machinery and electrical/electronic devices, aiming to improve equipment system performance. All work must adhere to company policies, GMPs, safety standards, SOPs, and housekeeping standards.

Essential Functions

The essential functions include but are not limited to: mechanical repair and troubleshooting, process improvements, equipment changeovers, fabrication of machine parts on packaging machinery, as per training.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate competency in all requirements for Packaging Mechanic - Level 1 and 2.
  • Perform work in accordance with company policies, GMPs, safety standards, SOPs.
  • Demonstrate electrical safety competency.
  • Perform minor machine shop work.
  • Exhibit mechanical troubleshooting skills, identify and resolve issues systematically.
  • Understand components of packaging equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment and technical manuals.
  • Conduct changeovers in designated packaging lines.
  • Perform repairs and upgrades on equipment.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to Level 1 and 2 Mechanics.
  • Maintain records and documentation.
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and safe.
  • Show flexibility to be utilized at any position as needed, including training others.
  • Document all equipment challenges as listed per MPI.
Materials

Machine parts, assemblies, pipe fittings, lubricants, solutions, changeover parts.

Tools and Equipment

Various hand and power tools as per training.

Reports to

Mechanical Supervision, Production Supervision.

Supervises

Work independently or as part of a team, directing others as necessary.

Education

HS Diploma or GED. Internal candidates must have completed Level 1 and 2 training in good standing. External candidates need an industrial maintenance certificate or equivalent training.

Experience or Equivalent

Internal: 4-6 years as Level 2 mechanic or equivalent. External: 8-10 years in a technical role with packaging/mechanical maintenance experience.
