The Waste Water Technician/Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for wastewater-related tasks, including start-up: ensuring the system produces clean water; mechanical/chemical troubleshooting; and planning, layout, and performing general maintenance duties to install, maintain, and repair production machines or equipment, attachments, or mechanisms used in various departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for calibration and adjustment/repair of diaphragm pumps & mechanical components
  • Switching sample bottles and programmed samplers as needed
  • Performing mechanical and chemical troubleshooting of wastewater systems
  • Maintain a chemical inventory, checking and changing chemicals
  • Using a computer to print out flow/Ph charts periodically
  • Empty and clean filter presses as required
  • Manage sludge removal
  • Keep detailed logs of routine and abnormal conditions
  • Assist municipal and contracted technicians or inspectors during audits and sample collections; coordinate hazardous waste pickup and disposal
  • Operate wastewater and associated equipment
  • Review and respond to maintenance service requests
  • Utilize the EAM system for maintenance record keeping
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities
  • Carry out various facilities maintenance tasks
  • Move large equipment throughout the plant
  • Train and mentor Level 2 Mechanics
  • Fabricate and repair equipment with MIG and TIG welders
  • Use a lathe and mill to fabricate machine components
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems on equipment throughout the facility
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic issues using schematics
  • Perform and lead major equipment rebuilds
  • Teardown machines, diagnose issues, repair or replace worn parts, and reassemble
  • Perform machinist work, including setup and operation of machine tools
  • Perform mechanical work to move and align machinery and install replacement parts
  • Perform carpentry, pipefitting, painting, and sheet metal work as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ Years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Ability to obtain a Waste Water License Grade 2 within 90 days
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex equipment issues
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Ability to progress through mechanic levels
  • Microsoft Office skills, especially Outlook
  • Experience with EAM system for maintenance documentation
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding
  • Ability to machine parts with lathe and mill
  • Experience rigging and moving large equipment
  • Technical knowledge of machine components and schematics
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to operate industrial power equipment
  • Customer service orientation and collaborative communication skills
