Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in Durham, NC is seeking a maintenance professional to ensure production and facility systems operate efficiently by monitoring equipment and performing preventive and corrective maintenance.

The role requires fault diagnosis, independence, adherence to cGMP standards, on-site presence, and participation in on-call rotation with training on aseptic technique. Strong documentation and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED with 4+ years in maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Recordkeeping and PPE practices to operate in dusty environments.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect equipment to ensure efficient operation of production and facility systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and document work in CMMS.
  • Troubleshoot/repair GMP manufacturing equipment and utilities with limited supervision.
  • Assist with boiler operations monitoring and chemical testing as assigned.
  • Escalate complex tasks to safety and efficiency targets.
  • Adhere to SOPs and participate in required training.
  • Maintain facility and production systems per cGMP standards.
  • Train vendors/contractors on safety procedures and codes.
  • Support special/construction projects and on-call rotation.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Ensure production and facility systems operate efficiently by monitoring and inspecting equipment and facilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and document work in CMMS per policy.
  • Troubleshoot and repair GMP manufacturing equipment and associated support systems/utilities with limited supervision.
  • Assist with monitoring/maintaining boiler operations (chemical testing; charging brine tanks as assigned).
  • Escalate complex tasks/projects as needed to complete work safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to SOPs; attend and fully participate in required training.
  • Maintain facility and production systems in accordance with cGMP requirements.
  • Ensure vendors/contractors are trained on safety/environment/health procedures and comply with applicable electrical/construction codes.
  • Support special/construction projects (demolition, renovation, new construction).
  • Participate in emergency and after-hours on-call rotation.
Minimum Requirements:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED.
  • 4+ years maintenance experience in industrial/pharma-bio/manufacturing.
  • Active, valid driver's license.
  • Intermediate knowledge of cGMP and ISO regulatory requirements.
  • Intermediate troubleshooting ability; ability to work independently.
  • Recordkeeping ability; ability to work in dusty environments using PPE.
  • Willingness to learn aseptic technique/cleanroom behavior; follow SOPs.
  • Fundamental computer skills (tablet devices).
  • Intermediate understanding of equipment/systems (e.g., BMS/BAS, fire/life safety, purified water, environmental monitoring).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in advanced technical training.
  • 4+ years in pharmaceutical/medical device industry.
