ChristianaCare is looking for a full-time Mechanic II in Elkton, MD To provide mechanical repairs and maintenance required to keep assigned equipment and systems in good working order.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains and repairs portable patient equipment (i.e., wheelchairs, IV poles, stretchers, and all types of beds).

Performs maintenance repairs associated with Area Maintenance Program.

Performs preventive maintenance inspections and takes readings on various building systems.

Performs building maintenance tasks (i.e., hanging pictures, repairing, and replacing ceiling tiles, floor tiles, cove base, light bulbs, and mounting signs).

Adjusts temperature in rooms while working as a shift mechanic.

Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Performs other related duties, as required.

Hours: Monday through Friday - 2p to 10:30p

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years practical mechanic experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

Knowledge of CCHS policies and procedures.

Ability to effectively diagnose and determine accurate repair procedures.

Ability to accurately plan, organize, and schedule work assignments.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Skill in using tools required to complete maintenance tasks (i.e., table saw, power hacksaw, drill press, sander, drill.)

Physical demands:

Walking, lifting, bending, stooping, reaching and climbing

Working conditions:

Exposure to chemical fumes, dust, heat, and noise.
