Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on activities related to support services functions, such as dietary and food services, environmental services, general facilities, repair and maintenance, parking, sterilization, and transportation to ensure all required support activities are completed in a timely manner and meet the organization's quality standards and expectations.

Additionally, this role involves performing general facilities, repair, and maintenance duties, including operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical components and systems such as electrical equipment, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), and plumbing.

This is a technical role that requires specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, apprenticeship, and experience. It is an experienced-level position requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools, working under moderate supervision, with routine problems and occasional need for interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.

Job Overview

The role involves performing maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspection, servicing, repair, overhaul, and construction duties across hospital buildings and grounds. Tasks include various maintenance crafts such as sheet metal, plumbing, carpentry, tile setting, painting, electrical, and roof maintenance. The employee is responsible for informing supervisors of activities, needs, and problems, and managing hospital lock and key system security.

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of building maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a vocational or trade school program.
  • Three (3) years of building maintenance experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Tasks include working from written and verbal instructions, using drawings and specifications, performing repairs and installations of hospital infrastructure components, using various tools and equipment, maintaining records, moving materials, detecting and reporting issues, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, submitting preventive maintenance work orders, responding to demand work orders, and participating in snow removal and sanding activities.

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent bending, squatting, and stooping.
  • Occasional heavy lifting.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Exposure to hazards from tools and equipment.
  • Fine hand coordination for tool handling.
  • Ability to hear and see necessary information.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe equipment use.
  • Organizational skills and ability to achieve quality performance.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in emergencies.
