Job description

Essential Functions:

The following is a list of specific duties considered the essential functions of this job. The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at BWay are dynamic. The employee occupying this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management, regardless of whether such duties are specifically included in this list:

  • Work from blueprints, manuals, schedules, and instructions.
  • Set up and maintain equipment such as punch presses, conveyor systems, compo liners, curlers, and automatic tape machines.
  • Set tooling and make various equipment adjustments.
  • Operate equipment, run sample units, check units, and make required operating adjustments.
  • Instruct and assist operators as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, diagnose problems, disassemble, determine the extent of repairs needed, obtain or requisition parts, assemble, test, and make repairs.
  • Maintain equipment, clean and lubricate, and maintain automatic lube systems.
  • Monitor press line operations and check the quality of units being produced.
  • Fill out required maintenance records.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.
  • Help relieve operators for lunch and breaks.
  • Use various precision measuring instruments, common hand and power tools, hand carts, and forklift trucks.
  • Follow safety rules and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Scope:
  • Complete tasks resourcefully and effectively as a skilled specialist.
  • Work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
  • Understand the implications of work and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Assist Maintenance; many critical thinking tasks can be completed effectively.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of repair procedures and equipment operation, equivalent to 1-2 years of applied trades training.
  • Use mathematics and analyze complicated prints.
  • Use various precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to exercise judgment.
  • Must comply with quality, PPE, safety requirements, and understand the importance of safety policies and procedures.
Physical/Visual Demands/Work Environment:

Physical and visual activities commonly associated with the performance of this job include physical agility and strength.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:

Inside conditions, extremes of heat (100+ seasonal), exposure to humidity, working in tight areas, high noise levels from production, some exposure to outside weather elements, oil, and dirt.
