The Mechanic 1 is responsible for troubleshooting mechanical systems, upgrading mechanical devices and equipment, maintaining and supporting air pollution equipment, as well as general plant and facilities maintenance and modernization.
High school diploma or GED required
Technical school certificate preferred
Training and experience in the mechanical craft
Familiar with systems such as HVAC, pumps, boilers, gearboxes, buildings, and other drive systems
Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving history report
Ability to meet license requirements for Powered Industrial Trucks (Lift trucks, JLG's, Scissor Lifts)
Basic Ladder Logic/schematic blueprint reading
Skill in basic electrical (de-energized) procedures preferred
Welding Fabrication experience with MIG & arc required
TIG, aluminum, and stainless preferred
Machinist Skills - Lathe, Milling preferred
Cutting skills using oxyacetylene and plasma torches preferred
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Train others of lesser skill level
Estimate, procure parts, modify, and install mechanical equipment
Drive company truck to various Interface locations as well as to supply companies
Comply with safety rules and environmental regulations
Be aware of departmental Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and LOTO procedures
Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
Maintain housekeeping
Perform other duties as assigned
While performing any overhead work or task that creates metal shavings/foreign debris, take all necessary precautions to prevent material from getting in the carpet
Lifting up to 40 lbs.
Extensive walking
Daily climbing of ladders and stairs
Non-climate controlled manufacturing environment
Work areas include but are not limited to: electrical panel, power distribution switchgear, breaker panel, etc., which requires PPE provided by the company.
