Job summary

Horton Emergency Vehicles is seeking a Mechanic I to support assembly and production operations at the Horton facility. You will receive and inspect dealer chassis, assign keys and vehicles, and coordinate suspension and chassis control programs.

The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards, independent work, and collaboration with Mounting Supervisors. Candidates should have at least one year in a manufacturing setting, a high school diploma or GED, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions in English.
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of personnel and functionally across areas.
  • Working independently in the absence of supervision is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the suspension programs including Liquid Spring and Monroe Suspension.
  • Coordinate all chassis modification duties with the Mounting Supervisor.
  • Assist with welding certification program and conduct tests as requested.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

  • Coordinate chassis control functions and related responsibilities.

Primary functions:

Receive and inspect dealer supplied chassis. Key and vehicle assignment duties, and coordination of all chassis control functions and Suspension (Monroe & Liquid Spring) Programs.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the suspension programs to include Liquid Spring and Monroe Suspension programs.
  • Coordinate all Chassis modification duties working closely with Mounting Supervisor
  • Assist with the company welding certification program to include and conducting welding certification tests as requested.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Qualifications/Training:

  • Fundamental use of various pneumatic and power tools.
  • Must be familiar with the safe operation of various tools – drill, screw gun, sander, jig saw, etc
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate a situation a plus.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of personnel and functional areas.
  • Working independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to perform critical analysis desired.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.

Education and Experience:

  • One year experience in a manufacturing environment.
