Job summary

John Knox Village in Pompano Beach, FL is seeking an experienced HVAC Licensed Technician to install, maintain and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems across our facilities. You will read blueprints, diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

A valid HVAC license and EPA Section 608 Certification are required, with 5+ years of field experience and a Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
• HVAC Technician License required where applicable.
• Florida driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace HVAC and refrigeration equipment and related systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control system malfunctions.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and related equipment (air conditioners, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, BAS).
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, manuals, and equipment specs.
• Respond to emergency service calls and coordinate with contractors on projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Licensed Technician to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems throughout our facilities. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing HVAC equipment while ensuring work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and organizational standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a safety-first mindset. This role also supports preventive maintenance programs, energy management initiatives, renovation and construction projects, and day-to-day facility operations.

What You'll Do

• Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace HVAC and refrigeration equipment and related systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control system malfunctions.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air conditioning units, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, exhaust systems, and refrigeration equipment.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems.
• Perform refrigerant recovery, leak detection, evacuation, charging, and disposal in accordance with applicable EPA requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, equipment specifications, and other technical documentation.
• Repair or replace compressors, motors, belts, fans, filters, thermostats, sensors, valves, controls, and other HVAC components.
• Respond to emergency HVAC service calls and equipment failures as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work order documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other maintenance personnel on renovation, construction, and facility projects.
• Evaluate system performance and recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, and energy-efficiency improvements.
• Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, as well as OSHA, environmental, and organizational safety standards.
• Maintain appropriate inventories of HVAC parts, tools, supplies, and equipment.
• Follow established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 or more years of progressively responsible HVAC maintenance and repair experience.
• Valid HVAC Technician License required, where applicable.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
• Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control system issues.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical or vocational training in HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems.
• Experience in commercial, healthcare, senior living, institutional, hospitality, and/or industrial environments.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification.
• NATE (North American Technician Excellence) Certification.
