Qualifications

  • Ability to lift and move tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Valid driver\'s license preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform basic tasks such as changing oil and filters, greasing equipment, changing belts, hoses, batteries, and other components.
  • Assist with brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and engine repairs.
  • Gather tools, parts, and supplies needed for repairs.
  • Clean and organize tools, work areas, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Safely operate basic hand and power tools.
  • Help inspect equipment for worn, damaged, or unsafe components.
  • Follow instructions from mechanics and supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Properly dispose of used oil, filters, parts, and other waste materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Mechanic Helper assists mechanics with the, maintenance, repair, and servicing of vehicles, equipment, and machinery. This position is responsible for helping keep the shop organized, preparing tools and parts, performing basic mechanical tasks, and assisting with repairs as directed by the mechanic or supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform basic tasks such as changing oil and filters, greasing equipment, changing belts, hoses, batteries, and other components.
  • Assist with brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and engine repairs.
  • Gather tools, parts, and supplies needed for repairs.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in awkward positions for extended periods.

  • Ability to work around grease, oil, dirt, dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to safely use hand tools and power tools.
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in a mechanical shop and/or outdoor work environment.
  • The employee may be exposed to vehicle and equipment noise, dirt, grease, oil, weather conditions, and other normal mechanical-shop hazards.
  • Proper personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be followed.
