Job summary

Waltonen Engineering, Inc. in Michigan is seeking a skilled mechanic to operate and inspect defense vehicles, diagnose defects, dismantle and reassemble equipment, and use hoists and hand tools for maintenance.

The role requires at least two years with engines and heavy equipment, a valid driver’s license, fluency in English, and the ability to stand for long periods, with eligibility for a security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of work experience as a mechanic, specifically with engines and heavy equipment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods to perform maintenance tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Office software.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect machines and equipment, including defense vehicles, to diagnose defects and identify maintenance needs.
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment, ensuring proper functioning.
• Use hoists and hand tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Examine parts for damage and wear, making necessary adjustments or replacements.
• Collaborate with Project Manager to meet project schedules.

• Use hoists and a variety of hand tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks
• Thoroughly examine parts for damage, wear, or other issues, making necessary adjustments or replacements for document catalog
• Collaborate with Project Manager to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and adherence to project schedules

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years of work experience as a mechanic, specifically working withengines and heavy equipment, is required
• Must possess the physical stamina to perform maintenance tasks while standing for extended periods
• A valid driver’s license is required, along with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Knowledge of PCs, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software products
• Only United States citizens can be considered for this position
• Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with military vehicles is a plus
• Familiarity with tactical wheelor tract vehicle experience
• Automotive or defense mechanical experience is a plus
