Job summary

IMG Academy is seeking an experienced Mechanic in Bradenton, FL to maintain and repair turf and grounds equipment across a major athletic facility including a golf course and multiple sport fields. You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems, perform preventive maintenance, and keep detailed repair records.

You will coordinate with the grounds team to minimize downtime, train staff on basic operation and maintenance, and assist with equipment upgrades and fleet

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of two- and four-cycle engines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems on grounds equipment.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance and sharpening techniques of turf equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative care on turf equipment (mowers, tractors, sprayers, and other grounds machinery).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues on grounds equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with grounds staff to schedule equipment use and maintenance around field operations.
• Maintain tools, shop area, and equipment storage in a clean, organized manner.
• Order, receive, and manage replacement parts and supplies as needed.
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Provide guidance or training to grounds staff on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance.
• Assist with special projects related to equipment upgrades or fleet improvements.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the repair, maintenance, and overall operational readiness of turf and grounds equipment at IMG Academy. IMG Academy is a unique and exciting athletic training & academic facility, consisting of an eighteen-hole golf course and numerous sports fields including football, soccer, baseball, and lacrosse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative care on turf equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, sprayers, and other grounds machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues on a variety of grounds equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with grounds staff to schedule equipment use and maintenance around field and facility operations.
• Maintain tools, shop area, and equipment storage in a clean and organized manner.
• Order, receive, and manage replacement parts and supplies as needed.

Preferred:

• Previous golf course or sports field experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 50lbs.
• Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
• Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
• Must have the ability to operate equipment including mowers, utility trucks, sprayers, computers, tractors, chain saws, weed eaters, hand tools and other types of equipment
• Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed
