IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Grounds department to keep turf and grounds equipment in peak condition. The role covers mowers, tractors, sprayers, and other field machinery across the campus.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair issues, maintain records, train staff, and support daily field operations. The job requires lifting up to 50 lbs and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of two and four-cycle engines.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems on grounds equipment.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance and sharpening of turf equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Preferred: previous golf course or sports field experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative care on turf equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues on equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with grounds staff to schedule equipment use around operations.
• Maintain tools, shop area, and equipment storage in a clean and organized manner.
• Order, receive, and manage replacement parts and supplies as needed.
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely per manufacturer guidelines and facility policies.
• Provide guidance or training to grounds staff on operation and basic maintenance.
• Assist with special projects related to equipment upgrades, retrofits, or fleet improvements.

Job Title: Mechanic

Department: Grounds

Position Summary: Responsible for the repair, maintenance, and overall operational readiness of turf and grounds equipment at IMG Academy. IMG Academy is a unique and exciting athletic training & academic facility, consisting of an eighteen-hole golf course and numerous sports fields including football, soccer, baseball, and lacrosse.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative care on turf equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, sprayers, and other grounds machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues on a variety of grounds equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with grounds staff to schedule equipment use and maintenance around field and facility operations.
• Maintain tools, shop area, and equipment storage in a clean and organized manner.
• Order, receive, and manage replacement parts and supplies as needed.
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and facility policies.
• Provide guidance or training to grounds staff on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance.
• Assist with special projects related to equipment upgrades, retrofits, or fleet improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Knowledge of two and four cycle engines required
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems on grounds equipment
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Familiarity of preventative maintenance, and sharpening techniques of various turf equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Preferred

• Previous golf course or sports field experience.

Physical Demands And Work Environment

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 50lbs.
• Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
• Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
• Must have the ability to operate equipment including mowers, utility trucks, sprayers, computers, tractors, chain saws, weed eaters, hand tools and other types of equipment
• Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed
