Job summary

The Schaumburg Park District is seeking a Mechanic to inspect, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on a diverse fleet including trucks, cars, buses, trailers, tractors, and diesel engines. The role includes ordering and managing parts inventories and performing other duties as assigned.

Based in Schaumburg, IL, the position is full-time with a typical Monday–Friday schedule. Applicants must meet licensing, certification, and physical ability requirements as described in the qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Illinois driver’s license.
• CDL with a passenger endorsement is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Journeyman level mechanic with prior experience in fleet repair and/or maintenance is required.
• Requisite physical ability to perform the essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodations.

JOB SUMMARY

Our Fleet Services Department consists of our Fleet Supervisor and two full-time Mechanics. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of trucks, cars, buses, trailers, tractors, mowers, small equipment, and diesel engines. Additional responsibilities include ordering and managing parts inventory, as well as other duties as assigned.

LOCATION

Fleet Maintenance Building, 610 Morse Ave, Schaumburg, IL

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a valid Illinois driver's license. CDL with a passenger endorsement is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment. Journeyman level mechanic with prior experience in fleet repair and/or maintenance is required. NOTE: Applicants must possess requisite physical ability to perform the essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodations.

PAY, BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, year-round non-exempt (hourly) position. Work schedule is generally Monday - Friday from 6:45am - 3:15pm. Target hiring range is $31.00-$35.00 per hour. Our full-time benefits package includes:
