Job summary

Fayette County Chamber of Commerce in Georgia is hiring a full-time Fleet Maintenance Technician responsible for repair and preventive maintenance of county vehicles and off-road equipment.

You will diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, service tires, and keep precise records of work performed. A Class B CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days, along with a high school diploma and specialized training.

Qualifications

• Completion of specialized training in the field, in addition to high school basics.
• Valid Georgia Class B CDL within 90 days of hire or promotion.
• License or ability to obtain a Georgia driver’s license for the vehicle operated.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain county vehicles and off-road equipment, including preventive maintenance and tire changes.
• Provide accurate records of work performed and prepare repair orders.
• Acquire part numbers and prices for parts needed for maintenance and repair.
• Purchase equipment and parts.
• Repair vehicles and equipment in the field as needed.
• Remain available to respond to disabled emergency vehicles after hours.
• Lock the facility at the end of the work shift.
• Perform electrical and mechanical diagnosis on computerized engine controls.
• Fabricate and weld heavy equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

This is a full-time position with benefits. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

• 1. Repairs and maintains county vehicles and off road equipment; performs preventive maintenance; changes and repairs tires.
• 2. Provides accurate records of work performed; prepares repair orders.
• 3. Acquires part numbers and prices for parts needed for maintenance and repair.
• 4. Purchases equipment and parts.
• 5. Repairs vehicles and equipment in the field as needed.
• 6. Remains available to respond to disabled emergency vehicles after normal working hours.
• 7. Locks facility at the end of work shift.
• 9. Performs electrical and mechanical diagnosis on computerized engine controls.
• 10. Fabricates and welds heavy equipment.
• 11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Possession of State of Georgia issued valid Class B CDL Driver’s License within 90 days of being hired or promoted into this position.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

SALARY

Starting Salary - $ 50,402.71
