Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to become proficient at inspection, diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and transportation vehicles, including cars, light, medium, and heavy trucks, paving, and earthmoving equipment. This hourly non-exempt position works under the direct supervision of the Shop Superintendent or Shop Leader.

Essential Functions

  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild all system failures on mobile equipment.
  2. Generate reports of parts necessary and time required to complete projects.
  3. Safely operate equipment for diagnosing and testing purposes.
  4. Accurately generate and complete all repair work orders in a timely manner.
  5. Communicate proactively with the Shop Superintendent or Shop Leader regarding equipment and job-related projects.
  6. Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  7. Perform cleanup at the end of the day or upon job completion, including cleaning tools and proper storage.
  8. Work on personal growth plans consistently.
  9. Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
  10. Work more than 40 hours per week regularly, including occasional non-traditional hours, days, weekends, and out-of-town travel as required.
  11. Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
  12. Perform all essential functions safely.

Knowledge of

  1. Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in repairing and maintaining mobile equipment.
  2. Computer skills.
  3. Construction operations.

Ability to

  1. Operate tools and equipment used for repairs.
  2. Follow instructions accurately.
  3. Learn and adhere to GOH Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company standards.
  2. Preferred Class B CDL with an acceptable driving record.
  3. Preferred State Inspection License.
  4. Tools needed to complete assigned projects.
  5. Knowledge and skills in troubleshooting, hydraulic systems, powertrain, electronics, cutting, welding, and fuel systems.

Education

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of Heavy Equipment/Diesel Technology program preferred.

Experience

  1. Prefer at least one year of experience as a heavy equipment or truck technician.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to work with petroleum products.
  2. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  3. Climb on and off equipment safely.
  4. Work in environments with dust, fumes, cold, noise, and confined spaces.
  5. Wear all required PPE.
