Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in San Diego seeks an experienced mechanic to lay out, fabricate, and assemble engine packages and related hardware for production lines. You will read engineering drawings, route electrical wiring, and install hydraulic tubing as part of a team responsible for high-quality turbine-related assemblies.

The role requires 1 year with power tools and blueprint reading, with overtime and shift flexibility. Training and growth opportunities exist within Turbomachinery Structures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year experience using power tools and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read engineering schematics/blueprints.
• Willing to work overtime and any shift.
• 3–5 years mechanical experience on turbine equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and align engine packages and components.
• Route cables and perform electrical terminations.
• Install hydraulic tubing including bending, cutting, and swaging.
• Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and drawings.
• Operate overhead crane to move package sets on/off trucks or trailers.
• Prepare engine packages for painting and clean up area.
