Job summary

  • Services vehicles/equipment including oil changes, greasing, fluids, filters, and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots electrical and hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and drive trains.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for repairs and maintains construction equipment and mechanical equipment such as trucks, trailers, batch plants, paving machines, bulldozers, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other equipment by performing the following duties.

Wage Range: $40 to $45 an hour dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Troubleshoots problems, making economical and durable repairs.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
  • Maintains and repairs heavy equipment, trucks, shops, and non-mobile equipment on an accompany-wide basis.
  • Services vehicles/equipment to include oil changes, greasing, adding fluids, changing filters, and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains, etc.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Welds broken parts and structural members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in mechanics or related field.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends, when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and productions areas as stated by OSHA.
  • Current and valid driver's license; DOT Medical Card preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Ability to work in a safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
