Job summary

Gulf Stream Marine, Inc. is seeking a mechanic maintenance specialist to perform advanced maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and rigging systems, with emphasis on crane support and gear management.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret schematics and manuals.
• 2+ years in mechanical, electrical, or crane maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability.
• TWIC card required or ability to obtain.
• English reading/writing/speaking required; bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced inspections and diagnostics on mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, hubs, drive, and steer assemblies.
• Plan and execute complex repairs, including part identification and restoring OEM specifications.
• Operate and test repaired equipment to confirm compliance with standards.
• Complete thorough documentation for all work orders and maintenance activities.
• Troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, electronic, PLC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify root causes.
• Assist with crane maintenance and major repairs under supervision; read electrical/hydraulic schematics.

  • Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Assist with crane maintenance and major repairs under supervision.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software (e.g., Cummins, Volvo, PLC systems).
• Gear Management:
  • Inspect rigging gear (slings, shackles, straps, chains, wires, cables) for wear and compliance.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments; coordinate major repairs with maintenance.
  • Ensure gear is properly stored, organized, and available for operational use.
  • Assign tools and gear to crews and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Leadership & Development:
  • Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 mechanics in troubleshooting and complex repairs.
  • Share best practices and assist in training junior team members.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams regarding equipment status.
