Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a Mechanic, CAT3 to support our government customer on Kaua'i, Hawai'i. Under general direction, you will operate and maintain Transportation vehicles and equipment, prepare reports, and ensure timely completion of duties.

Responsibilities include diagnostic testing, parts identification, maintenance, repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel systems, coordinating with trades, and training newer staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• AS degree or completion of a 2 Year Technical or Trade School or equivalent.
• Two (2) years specific work experience in the field required.
• Two (2) years specific work experience in gasoline and diesel engine repair.
• State Motor Vehicle Certified Mechanic License (ASE) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform may be substituted for formal training.

Responsibilities

• Operate diagnostic and test equipment for vehicle maintenance and repair; prepare shop repair orders; identify parts from catalogs; perform maintenance, repair, overhaul and replacement of parts; operate all vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledgeable in gasoline and diesel engine systems, electrical, hydraulics, brakes, and drive train components.
• Coordinate with other crafts and departments to ensure quality and timely duties; provide guidance and training to new staff.
• Care for government equipment, tools, and materials; ensure proper maintenance and safeguarding.
• Perform tasks per verbal/written instructions and follow safety and health rules; perform other duties as assigned.

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is looking for a Mechanic, CAT3 to provide support for our government customer in Kaua'i, Hawai'i.

Under general direction of a supervisor or Lead-person, candidate will perform a variety of work related to the operation and maintenance of Transportation vehicles and equipment; ensures timely and efficient accomplishment of assigned duties and prepare and maintain reports and records related to work assignments.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• The individual will perform a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of all Transportation vehicles and equipment, such as:
• Operate diagnostic and other test equipment related to vehicle maintenance and repair; prepare shop repair orders; research and identify parts from catalogs; perform maintenance, repair, overhaul and replacement of parts related to the operation of vehicles and equipment; and be able to operate all vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledgeable in operating principles of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment and associated electrical systems, and electronic controls, hydraulics, brake systems, and drive train components.
• Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craftspersons and coordinates with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.
• Provides guidance, orientation and training to newly assigned employees.
• Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
• Performs specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions and observes safety, fire, health, and work rules.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Office conditions

are varied and include physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (with a 2-person assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking or standing for extended periods of time, and work requiring repeated stooping. The environment will include customer contact, a confined work area, and field assignments.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

• High School diploma or equivalent
• A.S. degree or completion of a 2 Year Technical or Trade School or equivalent.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Two (2) years specific work experience in the specific field required.
• Two (2) years specific work experience in gasoline and diesel engine repair.
• State Motor Vehicle Certified Mechanic License (ASE) is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform may be substituted for formal training.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in the operation and repair of cranes and heavy equipment.
• ASE certified in electronic engine diagnosis.
• Possess or able to obtain a Class A CDL license with X endorsement.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected in order to apply for a Secret Security Clearance.
