Job summary

Transdev in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Level 1 Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. You will support A-Level and B-Level mechanics and perform routine maintenance to keep operations safe and efficient.

The role offers starting pay of $25.25 per hour, with full-time benefits including vacation, sick leave, medical/dental/vision coverage after 90 days, and a 401k plan.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• ASE certifications preferred; ASE certification program provided.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical per applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and replacements on diesel engines across vehicles and equipment.
• Assist higher-level mechanics with diagnostics and repairs.
• Execute routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance.
• Lead diagnostic tests and determine repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and overhauls to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and replacements on diesel engines, ensuring optimal functionality.
• Assist A-Level and B-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize diesel engine performance.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Other duties as required.

Physical Requirements

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
