Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of construction equipment, small tools, and light-duty vehicles. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment to support project execution and field operations. The Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime. This position requires hand-on experience with heavy industrial and rental equipment. A service truck will be provided for field repairs and on-site support.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment in compliance with company safety standards.
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship and maintain a high level of equipment readiness.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of industrial construction equipment (both diesel and gas-powered); service truck provided.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance schedules and detailed service records for all company equipment and tools.
  • Support equipment repair and fabrication through basic to advanced welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding.
  • Monitor parts and supply inventory to maintain adequate stock levels and control costs.
  • Coordinate with outside specialty shops (e.g., machine, hydraulic, electrical) for specialized or time-sensitive repairs.
  • Serve as a technical resource to advise when equipment should be removed from service due to mechanical issues.
  • Track and report warranty claims to the Asset Manager to ensure timely processing.
  • Assist in maintaining corporate equipment files, including inventory, repair history, and maintenance logs.
  • Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by supervisors.
Position Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hand-on experience in heavy equipment repair.
  • Proficient in preventative maintenance, repair, and service of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Skilled in basic to advanced welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and ARC.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and equipment schematics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and service logs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and respond to urgent repairs in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and around active construction sites.

Education and Experience

3-5 years of hand-on experience in construction equipment maintenance and repair required. Technical training or certification in diesel, electrical, or hydraulic systems preferred. Experience with diamond blade equipment is a plus. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and climb in and around equipment.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor conditions including inclement weather, heat, and cold.
  • Required to work in and around equipment repair facilities and active construction sites.
