Position:
Industrial Automation Technician-I
Overview:
Automation Technicians will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on the facilities' automation systems, including:
- Dematic Automated Storage and Retrieval Machines
- Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyors
- Drag-Chain Conveyors
- Thru/In-Frame Drag-Chain Transfers
- Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors
- Schaefer Automated Case Pick and Automated Tray Storage Systems
- KUKA Robotics
Responsibilities:
- Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components (e.g., gearbox exchanges, alignment, root cause failure analysis)
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components to restore serviceability
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all subsystems and components
- Assist team members with duties and repairs, based on experience and training
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of industrial power 3-phase 480V and electrical safety practices
- Understanding of PLC and VFD controlled machinery
- Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams, including complex automated system drawings
- Proper use of power tools and measuring devices; must provide basic hand tools
- Ability to work at heights up to 110 ft.
- Ability to access assets using ladders (weight limit 300 lbs.)
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Windows
- Welding experience (Stick, MIG, TIG) a plus
- Knowledge of ABB/SEW drive technology a plus
- Experience with machine shop equipment a plus
Experience/Education:
- High School Diploma required; 2-year degree or trade certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
Physical Abilities:
- Constant: seeing, hearing, sitting
- Frequent: standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, gripping items up to 20 lbs.
- Occasional: lifting items over 60 lbs.
