Job Summary:




The Mechanic Assistant supports the maintenance team by performing routine maintenance tasks, assisting in repairs, and ensuring all concrete and asphalt equipment, trucks, and machinery are operating safely and efficiently. This role involves working with heavy equipment, trucks, and small engine tools commonly used in paving and construction operations.






Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:




    Assist mechanics in diagnosing and repairing company equipment, including concrete mixers, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, tire replacements, lubrication, and filter changes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas.
  • Transport tools, parts, and equipment as needed.
  • Assist in equipment inspections and keep detailed maintenance records.
  • Operate tools and equipment including jacks, hoists, grinders, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with emergency roadside service or field repairs as needed.
  • Ensure tools and shop equipment are maintained and in good working condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Mechanic or Shop Supervisor.
