Job summary

JC Pallet is seeking a Mechanic Assistant for our Barhamsville, VA facility. You will assist mechanics with diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, and perform routine preventive maintenance including lubrication and inspections.

The Mechanic Assistant position will assist mechanics with diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment. Perform routine, preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspections.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs/installations utilizing a wide range of tools including but not limited to hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding machines.
  • Maintain upkeep of all equipment on site.
  • Be able to change tires, light work, adjust and change brakes, wheel seal, trouble shoot air systems, replace landing gears with knowledge of welding.
  • Valid Driver's License and safe driving record required.
Examples of work involved:
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and maintenance work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Helps troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues under supervision.
  • Supports equipment setup, testing, and adjustments as directed.
  • Responds to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Completes maintenance logs, work orders and other required documentation.
  • Assists with inventory management and stocking general facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Trailer floor plates & lights repairs.
  • Ground maintenance - general housekeeping, mowing, weed eating.
  • Perform job duties in a manner consistent with safety policies and work standards.
  • Proactive and effective communication with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and stressful situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Frequent lifting and bending.
  • Ability of standing and walk for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The work environment consists of occasional extreme temperature shifts ranging from very cold to very hot.
  • Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection is provided).
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving forklifts.
