Job summary

Aptar in McHenry, California is seeking a Mechanic for the Day Shift to maintain electrical and electro‑mechanical production machinery, ensuring machines run properly and within specifications while sustaining a safe, compliant work environment. You will read gauges, troubleshoot, set up and repair equipment, perform protective lockout procedures, and help with line optimization.

Qualifications

  • Able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and stand for long periods.
  • Must obtain Associate’s degree/technical certification in a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Repair, maintain, set up, and troubleshoot production machinery.
  • Read inspection gauges and perform record-keeping.
  • Communicate engineering issues and create work requests.
  • May issue parts to machines and record in SAP.
  • Follow lockout procedures and safety checks.
  • Monitor high-speed machinery and support Operators.
  • Assist training of new Assembly Mechanic I as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping for machine/plant optimization.
  • Comply with BRC/GMP/ISO in all activities.

Job description

Mechanic - Day Shift

Shift: 6:45am - 7:00pm


Position Summary

Maintains electrical and electro-mechanical production machinery to ensure machines operate properly and within set specifications.


Job Responsibilities


  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment at all times.

  • Repairs, performs maintenance, sets up and troubleshoots production machinery independently.

  • Reads inspection gauges.

  • Performs record-keeping duties.

  • Communicates engineering issues and creates work requests.

  • May issues parts to machines and record in SAP.

  • Performs safety checks on production machinery and is responsible for following lockout procedures.

  • Monitors multiple high-speed assembly machines and acts as a backup to Operator.

  • May train new Assembly Mechanic I at direction of management.

  • Performs various housekeeping duties for machine and plant optimization.

  • Performs/meets the requirements of BRC/GMP/ISO in all job activities.


Qualifications

Education: HS Degree or GED preferred


Requirements:



  • Must have knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems.

  • Must be able to work as a member of a team, have high energy level and be able to work well under pressure.

  • Must have good vision to perform visual inspection duties.

  • Must be able to discern shades of color and color differences relating to component parts used in the manufacturing process.

  • Must be a certified Operator I and possess a clear understanding of running a machine for set up.

  • Must have mechanical skills/aptitude (as determined by testing).

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally throughout the shift, one (1) to two (2) times every four (4) hours.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, turn, grasp, push, pull and crouch continuously throughout the shift.

  • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, and reach above shoulders.

  • Must be able to climb steps.

  • Must be able to hear warning signals/verbal alerts to avoid injury during manufacturing process.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to effectively communicate and understand relevant information relating to quality and production issues.

  • Must be able to read various inspection gauges.

  • Must possess basic math and PC skills.

  • Must obtain minimum of Associate’s degree and/or Technical Certification within reasonable amount of time from accredited technical program or applicable years of experience.


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this position is: Up to $40.00/hour plus any applicable shift differential.
