Job summary

Suburban Automotive Services in Romulus, MI, is launching a Mechanic Apprentice Program to train hands-on in diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle modifications. You will train alongside experienced Retrofit Technician Team Leads in a structured, paid 3-6 month program with a path to full-time roles.

Starting pay is $18/hour during training, rising to $20–$25/hour after graduation as a certified Retrofit Technician. Benefits include a comprehensive package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Interest in cars and hands-on mechanical work.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform basic automotive repairs with Retrofit Technician Team Leads.
• Assist with part removals, installations, and vehicle modifications.
• Learn diagnostics and troubleshooting using advanced tools.
• Support programming and module reconfiguration processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow safety procedures.
• Participate in team safety meetings and training sessions.
• Demonstrate DRIVEN values and contribute to excellence.

What You'll Do:

• Work alongside experienced Retrofit Technician Team Leads to learn and perform basic automotive repairs.

What You Bring:

• A strong passion for cars and hands-on mechanical work.
• Eagerness to learn and grow under the mentorship of seasoned technicians.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Basic mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (preferred but not required).
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
• Valid Driver's License with an adequate driving record.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to work hard.
• Must meet company background check and drug screen requirements
