State-of-South-Carolina is seeking a skilled mechanic to maintain and repair the Agency fleet and equipment under supervision. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, replace major components to OEM specs, and ensure accurate documentation.
Responsibilities include annual bus inspections per SDE guidelines, staying current with required credentials, and responding to on-call situations with safety as the top priority.
Under general supervision of the Vehicle/Equipment Repair Supervisor, employee performs skilled mechanical duties in the maintenance and repair of Agency fleet and equipment and also maintains required documentation.
Three years of mechanical experience in automotive related repair or any combination of training and experience that would enable the employee to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for both gasoline and diesel engines. Maintains a current SC CDL, School Bus Certificate and DOT Card or is able to acquire these certifications within 120 calendar days of hire.
Must have a working knowledge of the mechanical repair of gasoline and diesel engines. Must possess or be able to acquire the necessary SDE certifications and ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling certification. Requires the ability to perform all work in compliance with Federal, State, Agency, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures using personal protective equipment as required. Requires a working knowledge of supply procedures and the ability to interpret technical service manuals and/or software.
