We are seeking to hire candidates for our Mechanic - 3rd Class Germantown (0993).

Overall Description

To be proficient in the diagnosis of average mechanical, electrical and pneumatic trouble; makes unit replacements and adjustment on vehicle equipment; makes repairs incidental to state inspections.

Specific Responsibilities

• Replaces such items as diaphragms, slack adjusters, application valves, air hoses; front axle assembles, quick releases and relay valves, mufflers, exhaust pipes, etc.
• Adjusts brakes and clutches; uses feelers to tolerance of .002 in; checks assembly for concentricity.
• Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  
  

Additional Specific Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must satisfactorily complete qualification tests.
• Must satisfactorily complete performance test as required.
• Must possess tools pertinent to occupation.
• Must possess valid driver's license. Will be required to obtain CDL license at a later date.
