Zusammenfassung

Covia is seeking a dynamic Mechanic, 1st Class at our McIntyre, GA facility to ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant. The role requires multi-discipline aptitude and maintenance across conveyors, pumps, motors, and related equipment.

You will diagnose mechanical failures, weld with MIG and stick, and support maintenance planning to meet production targets while upholding Covia's safety standards and teamwork culture.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in mining or heavy industry preferred.

Covia is looking for a dynamic Mechanic, 1 st Class who will have a positive impact on our team at our McIntyre, GA location. Mechanic, 1 st Class is accountable to ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant and must possess aptitude for multiple disciplines and be proficient in the operation of equipment associated with all functional areas within the plant.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

• Perform each and every job in a safe and timely manner with full adherence to all corporate and site safety policies;
• Ability to perform all preventative maintenance as needed in the plant to include familiarization with oils and greases replacement and disposal, change and or repair pumps;
• Ability to work on all parts of belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and screw conveyors to include bearings, pulleys, belt splicing, and rollers;
• Ability to work on and replace sheaves and pulleys, chain, and sprockets, reducers, motors, motor bearings, shafts, and couplings;
• Diagnose mechanical or equipment failure to include bad motors, blown fuses, seized bearings, excessive wear or any other mechanical failure;
• Demonstrate the ability to weld that will pass a bend test with MIG and stick welding. Fabricate small projects as needed and use an oxy acetylene torch for cutting;
• Maintain a clean area while working on projects and after completing projects;
• Work efficiently and productively while prioritizing projects and tasks;
• Understand the plant’s basic flow sheet and purpose of each piece of equipment;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required;
• Literacy in English, both verbally and written;
• Previous experience within mining operations (preferably sand) preferred;
• Prior exposure to an understanding of operational equipment in mining or heavy industry;
• Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately;
• Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks;
• Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver set targets.
