Job summary

Covia is seeking a dynamic Mechanic to support the Operations team at its Junction City, GA location. The role focuses on analyzing mechanical problems, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring maximum production and quality across equipment.

The successful candidate will be skilled in cutting/welding and able to read blueprints, with willingness to work rotating shifts and be on-call as needed. Covia emphasizes safety and teamwork in a diverse, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of bearings and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to cut and weld (stick, mig, oxy/acet, plasma, etc.).
  • Electrical experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts and be on-call.
  • Able to read blueprints and service bulletins.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes mechanical problems on production equipment and takes corrective action.
  • Examines, tests, and measures products from equipment for quality using gauges and records data.
  • Makes preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor, and takes action.
  • Examines defects, analyzes equipment failure causes, and records causes of production delays.
  • Conveys belt repair and regular maintenance.
  • Cleans, repairs, and rebuilds pumps, cylinders, solenoids, and air valves.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required to be on call on a rotating basis.

Covia is looking for a dynamic Mechanic employee who will positively impact the Operations team at its Junction City, GA location.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on production equipment and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Examines, tests, and measures products from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms.
  • Makes preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor, and takes appropriate action.
  • Examine defects, analyzes equipment failure causes, and, where possible, takes corrective action. Analyze and record the cause of production delays on daily maintenance reports.
  • Conveyer Belt Repair and Regular Maintenance
  • Clean, repair, and rebuild pumps, cylinders, solenoids, and air valves.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Required to be on call on a rotating basis.
The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Bearings
  • Ambitious and self-motivated worker
  • Able to prioritize work schedule to execute in order of importance
  • Must be able to cut and weld (stick, mig, oxy/act, plasma, etc.)
  • Electrical experience is preferred
  • Must be available to be on-call
  • Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools, read blueprints, service bulletins, etc.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts or stay over shift if needed.
