Job summary

UPS in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Mechanic 1st Class to maintain and repair delivery vehicles, heavy-duty machinery, on-road tractors and trailers.

You will diagnose hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electronic systems and engines, perform preventive maintenance, and use hand, power and pneumatic tools.

Starting pay is $40.11 per hour with weekly pay and benefits including 401(k) and pension, medical/dental/vision coverage, paid time off, holidays and an employee stock purchase program.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.
  • Flexible shifts, up to 5 days per week
  • Must possess the required hand tools to perform the job
  • Meets D.O.T requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in preventive maintenance and electrical diagnostics
  • Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks and pivots throughout shift

Job Summary

The Mechanic 1st Class is responsible for the upkeep and repair of a wide array of equipment, such as delivery vehicles, heavy-duty machinery, on-road tractors, and trailers sourced from different manufacturers. They specialize in diagnosing and fixing issues with hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electronic systems, and engines. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $40.11 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
