Trailer Mechanic/Welder Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual and systematic 90-day inspections on equipment as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate yard hostler trucks to move trailers within the facility yard and shop.
• Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
• Adhere to all safety (OSHA) and environmental policies, including handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure equipment longevity and safety.
• Use welding equipment.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Ability to learn and demonstrate vehicle and equipment theory, including diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to learn and demonstrate tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT regulations, and company policies.
• R-Stamp Certified (capable of welding 2G, 3G, 4G, and other welding needs on equipment).

Qualifications

• High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent vocational training.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.
• Experience with TIG welding.
• Dynamic, ambitious, and engaged team player.
