Trailer Mechanic/Welder Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers
• Perform annual and systematic 90-day inspections on trailers
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards
• Operate yard hostler trucks to move trailers within the facility and shop
• Order and receive parts and supplies as needed
• Adhere to all safety (OSHA) and environmental policies, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Perform welding using appropriate equipment
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to learn and demonstrate vehicle and equipment theory, including diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules, and company policies
• R-Stamp Certification, with ability to weld 2G, 3G, 4G, and other welding needs on equipment

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent vocational training
• Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers
• Experience with TIG welding
• Dynamic, ambitious, and engaged team player
