Job summary

U.S. Pavement Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles and construction equipment. This role ensures fleet safety and peak performance with strong mechanical skills and a safety-focused mindset.

The ideal candidate will read service manuals, diagnose diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and perform engine work, brake repairs, and preventive maintenance, with the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a mechanic or technician, preferably in construction or heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
  • Skilled with diagnostic and hand/power tools; valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
  • ASE certifications or vocational training preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on company vehicles and equipment (e.g., trucks, skid steers, pavers, rollers).
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Complete repairs including engine work, brake systems, electrical wiring, hydraulic components, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and parts inventory logs.
  • Order parts, supplies, and materials needed for repairs.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure shop area and tools are clean, organized, and maintained.

Job Summary -
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles and construction equipment. This role is essential to keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on company vehicles and equipment (e.g., trucks, skid steers, pavers, rollers)
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Complete repairs including engine work, brake systems, electrical wiring, hydraulic components, and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and parts inventory logs
  • Order parts, supplies, and materials needed for repairs
  • Operate diagnostic tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Ensure shop area and tools are clean, organized, and maintained
  • Assist with emergency repairs in the field as needed
  • Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and operators about equipment status and repairs
