Job summary

Tri Gas & Oil Co., Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet. You will troubleshoot issues and perform preventative maintenance to maximize reliability and functionality.

Duties include brake work, diagnostics, electrical and engine repair on medium- and heavy-duty trucks, with occasional welding and shop duties. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and strong customer relations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certification from vocational school or completion of apprenticeship preferred.
• Proven experience as auto mechanic with heavy- and medium-duty trucks.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance with no supervision.
• Perform routine truck repairs including brake work, hydraulics, driveline, steering, suspension, electrical and transmission with no supervision.
• Perform advanced truck repairs including fuel injection, electronics, emissions, meters, tank and piping work, major engine or transmission rebuilds with no supervision.
• Ability to perform welding and cutting preferred.
• Perform annual state vehicle inspections per regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain inventory control of parts inventory and order as necessary from approved vendors.
• Possess Class C certification.
• Desire to grow and accelerate with the Company.
• Good customer relations.
• Must have a positive, upbeat attitude.
• Must be able to take direction from coworkers.

Job description

This Mechanic position is to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform preventative maintenance with no supervision
• Perform routine truck repairs including brake work, hydraulics, driveline, steering, suspension, electrical and transmission with no supervision
• Perform advanced truck repairs including fuel injection, electronics, emissions, meters, tank and piping work, major engine or transmission rebuilds with no supervision.
• Ability to perform welding and cutting preferred
• Perform annual state vehicle inspections per regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain inventory control of parts inventory and order as necessary from approved vendors.
• Perform various odd jobs around the shop and yard
• Possess Class C certification
• Desire to grow and accelerate with the Company
• Good customer relations
• Must have a positive, upbeat attitude
• Must be able to take direction from coworkers

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Service medium duty and heavy-duty truck/trailer
• Brake work, wheel seal and driveline repairs
• Air Conditioning work a plus
• Any other responsibilities that will make the department run more efficiently
• Proven experience as auto mechanic
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
• Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
• Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
• Excellent physical condition
• High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a shop environment. This role routinely uses standard shop equipment such as lifts, air compressors, etc. The noise level in the shop and the outside locations can be loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions due to weather conditions.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, pull, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain and snow.
